If you are coming to our wedding via Barcelona you can travel from Barcelona by bus, train or plane.

Trains
At the moment there are 3 trains from Barcelona to Murcia each day: 12:00, 15:00 and 16:30. However, this may change so you should check closer to the date. The fare is €46 one-way and the trip takes approximately 6.5 - 7 hours.

Bus
Warning! This trip takes more than 9 hours!
There are 9 or 10 buses every day. The fare is €45 each way.

Plane
There are two airports serving Murcia. They are Murcia (San Javier) and Alicante.

The fare for Barcelona - Murcia (San Javier) is €87 return.

Trip to Australia/Viaje a Australia

Tickets have just become available for Christmas 2007 to Australia. Looks like it will be around £1600 (€2440, AUS$4000) if we buy them right now, maybe more later in the year. Ouch! Still, the weather will be great at that time of year and we're both really looking forward to it.


Los billetes para ir a Australia acaban de salir a la venta para las Navidades 2007. Parece que el mas barato es 1600 libras, €2440 o AUS$4000 si los compramos ahora mismo, lo mas seguro que mas caros dentro de unos meses. ¡¡Que dolor!! De todas formas el tiempo va a ser genial en Navidades ¡¡y los dos estamos deseando ir!!

Presents/Regalos

There have been some questions about what we'd like as a wedding gift and we appreciate the generosity of everyone for thinking about us. However, we hope you understand that we will have to transport any gifts back to London from Spain or Australia. We had considered using some kind of wedding registry, however, it was not possible to find something suitable in both English and Spanish. For these reasons, we have decided that the best option would be to give a contribution towards our trip to Australia and honeymoon. We will be including banking information with the formal invitations,which will be posted after Easter.

Algunos de vosotros nos habeis preguntado que que nos gustaria de regalo de bodas y nosotros apreciamos vuestra generosidad por pensar en nosotros. Esperamos que entendais que si nos dais regalos, los tendremos que transportar de nuevo a Londres desde España o desde Australia. Habiamos pensado en usar algun tipo de lista de bodas pero no hemos encontrado nada que se puede hacer en ingles y en español. Por estos motivos, hemos decidido que lo mejor seria si nos pudierais dar una contribucion para nuestro viaje a Australia y luna de miel. Detalles de las cuentas del banco estaran incluidas en las invitaciones de boda, que las mandaremos despues de Semana Santa.

To give everyone a bit of help choosing a hotel, we've listed a few of the hotels we know about in Murcia.

The reception will be in the Hotel Nelva and if you want to use this hotel, please let us know as we should be able to get a special rate (around 70€ per night). However this hotel is a bit far from the city centre and the Church (too far to easily walk). We'd recommend that you consider one of the closer hotels, since you'll be able to walk to just about everywhere of interest (the Gran Via, Cathedral, Plaza de Flores, etc.)

Formal Invitations/Invitaciones

We're sure that everyone is eagerly awaiting the formal invitations to our wedding and reception in Murcia and the celebration in Brisbane. The invitations are being typeset and printed now, and we expect to send them during Easter. So, look for a late Easter surprise in your mailbox!

Estamos seguros de que todo el mundo esta esperando las invitaciones para la boda y el convite en Murcia y para la celebracion en Brisbane. Las invitaciones estan encargadas y las imprimiran pronto. We understand that many of our family and friends will be unable to join us in Spain. We very much want to share this wonderful time with all of you, so we are also having an informal celebration in Brisbane, Australia on Saturday, 22nd December 2007. This will be held in Carlyle's Restaurant, Grange starting at 6PM.

One member of the Gedge family wanted to know how much a taxi from Alicante Airport to Murcia was. We can now say that it is quite expensive 80 Euros, so try to get on time for a bus!!

We have just seen that if you want to use the 18:00 or the 20:15 on a Saturday or Sunday, you need to check with the bus station if these buses are actually working on that especific day. I hope this makes sense.

If you are using another airline to fly to Madrid, you can travel to Murcia by bus or train. We have checked the times and prices but these are likely to change before the summer. We'll post new timetables closer to the time.

via Madrid-Barcelona with Iberia

If you decide to spend a few days in Madrid or Barcelona once you are in Spain, you will most likely be able to do one or two stops over for free using Iberia. You might want to fly London-Madrid/Madrid-Alicante and spend a few days in Madrid before the wedding. You can do the same in the way back or stopping in Barcelona.

Si decidis pasar unos dias en Madrid o en Barcelona una vez que estais en España, lo mas seguro es que podais hacer una o dos paradas gratis usando Iberia. Podriais volar Londres/Madrid/Madrid/Alicante y pasar unos dias en Madrid antes de la boda. Podreis hacer lo mismo a la vuelta o parando en Barcelona.

The Reception/El Convite

After the wedding we are all going to have dinner at The Nelva Hotel, which address is Primero de Mayo N9. It is a little bit far from the church so guests might need to take a taxi to get there, especially those wearing high heels!!
